Making the Transitions of life easier with Earth's Magick

In this series about the elements I want to add that connecting with any of these elements is going to bring you closer to understanding yourself and how it connects to the earth. The fire element is the action element.

This is the element we hate to love. It’s the passion in our lives, it is what makes us motivated and excited. When doing research for this article and the episode I realized that fire was most present in my physical practice more than any other element and I believe it is because of how drawn I am to its intensity.

FIre is beautiful, it dances and can be important in your spell work if the outcome isn’t as powerful as you may like. Adding a fire element object can help boost your inner power and the fire you hold and help connect it to your spell work.

So what does fire do for us in magick? Fire is an activator, it can bring energy to but it can also cleanse and release energy as well. Fire even though it can be destructive in nature it brings in new and fresh ideas. Think about how fire is used in a controlled environment to clear land, the ash that is left is crucial to bring in new life in that area. This also applies in our practice candles, incense, smoke, burning sigils all of these practices are used in our spell work.

So many times we talk about candles and candle magick is definitely one of my personal favorites, but what if you don’t have candles or aren’t able to burn candles? In these cases led tea lights, flickering tapers and even fire apps can be used depending how you may be needing to use the element. If you are scrying you can use a candle app and it can help because it is discrete and no one is going to question you staring aimlessly into your phone. An app can also help if you are looking to connect with the fire itself as most of them have the sound of burning. If you are looking for representation alone, led candles work just as well and you don't run the risk of any accidents.

If you are looking to add a fire element into your magick without candles completely herbs may be right for you. Of course these are easy to find now that we live in a technology world but if you like using herbs in your practice I highly recommend Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magickal Herbs it is a quick reference book that is packed with herbs element, energy, the properties, and different uses for that herb. For the fire element a couple of herbs that can be used are rosemary, sunflower, cinnamon, chili pepper, clove, and dragon’s blood. These herbs all have more properties but are good if your intention is to give the spell a fiery boost.

So how can I use the fire element to heal myself? Well If we look at the planets looking at what sign rules mars to find what you may be lacking. Mars is the planet of our desires, action, and our passions. If we aren’t paying attention to what we need personally than you may start to feel that self sabotage sneaking back in, whether it’s putting everyone before yourself or even just ignoring your self care routine. Looking at your sun sign can help identify what you may need as this is your essence, this is the force that drives you.

If looking to have the power of fire planning your spells when the fire energy is high during a specific season can help greatly, a reminder some spells take up to months of planning, these astrological seasons are represented by Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. During these months harnessing the fire element can help activate and bring the nutrients that your magick may need.

The fire element is very versatile as are a lot of the elements but this is where the power comes from.
